VITARESTA
Architectural Concept
This new administrative building is situated in a unique natural setting – directly on the banks of the Neris River in Kaunas. The project responds to the dialogue between urban infrastructure and the surrounding landscape, aiming to create harmony with nature while maintaining a clear and contemporary corporate identity. The design balances simplicity and expressiveness, with the building volume gently integrating into the riverside terrain and opening up toward scenic views.
Form and Spatial Composition
The three-storey structure is formed through a rhythm of horizontal volumes, responding to the natural slope and river alignment. Angled corners and stepped volumes articulate terraces and semi-open areas, allowing for both functional and recreational use. The building’s orientation maximizes daylight and frames panoramic views of the Neris River.
Materiality and Facade Expression
The facades are clad in aluminum composite panels, offering a precise, durable, and modern surface. Between the glazed openings, vertical aluminum fins create a refined rhythm, provide solar shading, and emphasize vertical proportions. Large-format windows enhance transparency and connectivity between indoor and outdoor spaces. At night, warm interior lighting transforms the building into a vibrant, glowing object on the riverbank.
Program and Functionality
-
Ground floor – public areas, main entrance lobby, meeting rooms, and representative spaces.
-
Second and third floors – open-plan offices, private workspaces, lounge areas, and outdoor terraces.
-
The interior layout supports modern work environments with flexibility, natural light, and visual continuity with the landscape.
Urban and Natural Integration
The site lies adjacent to the river, prompting a sensitive design approach with minimal impact on the natural terrain. Existing vegetation has been preserved, with parking and infrastructure discreetly integrated into the site layout. The architecture embraces the panoramic relationship between city and nature, turning the building into an integral part of the landscape.
Architectural Identity
The project reflects NEBRAU’s signature style – clear geometries, a restrained material palette, and well-considered volumetric articulation. The modern facade expression, transparency, and efficient functional organization define a strong yet understated architectural character, aligned with the vision of a forward-thinking company.
